Night Screen: Ultra Dim Mode

Welcome to the official documentation for Night Screen, a screen dimmer and blue light filter for Android.

What is Night Screen?

Night Screen draws a filter over your entire display so you can dim your screen below your phone's normal minimum brightness, warm its colours for night reading, or mix your own colour filter. Turn it on and off with one tap, or let Auto Schedule handle it for you.

Key Features

  • Three filter modes - Dim Light, Blue Light Filter and Advanced (full RGB colour control)
  • Goes below your phone's minimum brightness - useful in a dark room where the lowest system setting still feels too bright
  • Auto Schedule (Pro) - turns the filter on at a sunset time you choose and off at a morning time you choose, with a gradual transition
  • Quick Settings tile - jump straight to Night Screen from your notification shade
  • Daily reminder - an optional notification that reminds you to turn Night Screen on
  • 24 languages - set the App's own language independently of your system language

Quick Start

  1. Install Night Screen from Google Play and open it
  2. Grant "Display over other apps" when asked - this is what lets Night Screen draw its filter
  3. Turn on the Night Screen switch on the home screen
  4. Pick a mode - Dim Light, Blue Light Filter or Advanced - and adjust the sliders
  5. Turn it off any time from the App, the Quick Settings tile, or the Stop button on its notification

Requirements

  • Android 7.0 or later

See the User Guide for the full list of permissions and what each one is used for.
