Privacy Policy¶

Thank you for using PDF Reader (the "App"), provided by Androxus ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what the App collects, what it does not, and what stays on your device.
Overview¶
PDF Reader shows ads and uses Firebase Analytics to understand basic app usage. It does not scan your device for files, and it does not collect the content of your PDFs.
The short version:
- You choose every file. The App opens a PDF through Android's own file picker, or when you pick the App to open a PDF from somewhere else. It does not browse or list the rest of your storage
- No "All files access." The App does not hold Android's special all-files storage permission
- Your PDFs never leave your device, except when you deliberately tap Share
- No accounts, no sign-in, and we operate no server of our own
- Your file library, reading settings and any password you enter for a protected PDF stay on your device

Nothing on this list includes the content of your PDFs.
Your files and storage access¶
PDF Reader is built around opening files you choose, not scanning your device.
How you open a PDF:
- Tap OPEN PDF in the App, which opens Android's own file picker, the same system window other apps use. You choose the file; the App does not see or list any other files on your device through this picker.
- Or open a PDF directly from another app, a file manager, a browser download, or an email attachment, and choose PDF Reader.
The App does not use "All files access" and does not hold the special permission Android calls MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE. It cannot browse your storage on its own; it only receives the one file you pick, or the one file another app hands to it.
What happens after you pick a file: the App copies that file into a storage area that belongs to the App on your device, so it can reopen it later from Recents, keep it in a tab, and show a thumbnail. This copy stays on your device. If you uninstall the App, or clear its storage in Android Settings, the copy is removed; the original file, wherever it was, is untouched.
On Android 9 and earlier, the App also requests the older "read storage" and "write storage" permissions before it opens the file picker, and explains why if they haven't been granted yet. This is a requirement of old Android versions only; on Android 10 and later, the App does not ask for or need this permission.
Password-protected PDFs: if a file needs a password, the App asks you for it and stores it on your device, in the App's own local database, so it doesn't have to ask again the next time you open that file. The password is never sent anywhere.
Your documents never leave your device, except when you deliberately choose to send one:
- Tapping Share hands the PDF to whichever app or contact you pick from Android's own share sheet. That's the only way a file you've opened in PDF Reader is sent anywhere, and it only happens when you choose it.
- Tapping a link inside a PDF, and confirming you want to open it, launches your browser with that address.
The App does not read, index, analyse or transmit the contents of your PDFs for any other purpose, including advertising or analytics.
Advertising¶
PDF Reader is free to use and shows ads through Google AdMob: a banner on the file-list and tabs screens, an interstitial ad when you open a PDF, and an app-open ad when you return to the App.
The App does not include a separate consent-management screen of its own. Ad requests, and any ad personalisation, are handled by Google's Mobile Ads SDK under Google's own policies. When an ad is requested, AdMob may receive your advertising ID, device and app information, IP address, and your interactions with the ad, and may use them to personalise advertising. There is currently no paid option to remove ads. You can manage ad personalisation for your device generally from your Google Account's ad settings, outside the App.
Analytics¶
The App uses Firebase Analytics to understand basic usage, such as how often the App is opened. It runs whenever you use the App; this version of the App does not include an in-app toggle to turn it off.
The App does not add any of its own tracking events. Firebase only records its own standard, automatically-collected data: things like app-open counts, an app-instance identifier, device model, operating system version, and an approximate country derived from your IP address. It does not record which files you open, your search terms, your settings, or anything from inside a PDF.
Permissions¶

A few other system permissions (such as a wake lock, and a check after the device restarts) are added automatically by the Google Mobile Ads, Firebase and Android system libraries the App depends on, for their own internal scheduling. The App's own code does not run a background service or act when your device starts up.
PDF Reader does not request camera, microphone, location, contacts, or notification access, and does not use an accessibility service, "display over other apps," usage access, or exact alarms.
What's stored on your device¶
- The PDF files you've opened, copied into the App's own storage
- Your Recents list and Favorites (file name and when you last opened it)
- Which PDFs you currently have open as tabs, and the page you were last on in each one
- The password for any protected PDF you've unlocked, so you're not asked again
- Your reading settings (quality, anti-aliasing, scroll direction, colour inversion, page snapping, keep-screen-on)
- How many times you've opened the App, used only to decide when to show the rating prompt
Data we do not collect¶
To be explicit, PDF Reader does not collect, store off device, or transmit to us:
- The content of your PDFs
- Your contacts, camera, microphone or precise location; the App never asks for these
- Notification content
- Your name, email address, or any account identity; there is no sign-in
- A list of the other files or apps on your device

Because we hold no account and run no server, there is no profile of you for us to export or erase. Data held by Google as a result of ads or analytics is subject to Google's own controls.
Children's Privacy¶
PDF Reader is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.
Changes to this Privacy Policy¶
We may update this Privacy Policy. Significant changes will be reflected here and in the release notes on Google Play. The effective date at the top shows when it was last revised.
