Troubleshooting¶
The AOD doesn't appear at all¶
- Open AOD Flow and tap Start on the Home tab. If Display over other apps isn't granted, a dialog appears; tap Give Permission and turn it on for AOD Flow
- Check Settings → Open AOD screen matches what you expect — it can be set to show only while charging, only on the lock screen, or both
- If Hide On A Schedule is turned on, confirm you're not currently inside the hidden window
- Tap Preview on the Home tab to confirm the AOD screen itself works, separately from when it shows automatically
The AOD works, then stops after a while¶
This is almost always Android's battery optimisation stopping the background service after your screen has been off for some time.
- In the app, open Settings → Disable Battery Optimization and set AOD Flow to unrestricted
- On Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, Realme, OnePlus or Huawei phones, also check the Additional Permission Required card in Settings (Xiaomi/OPPO/vivo) or your phone's own app permissions screen, and allow AOD Flow to:
- Run in the background / Autostart
- Display pop-up windows while running in the background
- Show on the lock screen
- If your launcher or a task-cleaner app "cleans" recent apps automatically, exclude AOD Flow from it
Notifications or media controls aren't showing on the AOD¶
- Confirm Show Notifications on AOD or Show Media Player Controls is turned on in Look & Feel
- If you denied notification access when first asked, the toggle turns itself back off. Turn it on again to be asked once more, or grant notification access to AOD Flow directly in Android Settings
- For media controls specifically, start playback in your music or video app first — controls only appear while something is actively playing
A widget isn't on time, or is blank¶
- Set battery usage to Unrestricted as above — the widget clock needs its background service to keep running
- Remove the widget and add it again if it stays blank after a phone restart or an app update
- Confirm you're looking for the right name: widgets are listed as Clock AOD, not AOD Flow, in your launcher's widget picker
The torch or camera shortcut isn't working¶
- Confirm Torch (tap & hold) or Camera (tap & hold) is turned on in Look & Feel
- Tap and hold rather than tap — a quick tap doesn't trigger either shortcut
- If torch reports no flash found, your phone doesn't have a back camera flash AOD Flow can control
- Camera opens your phone's own default camera app; if nothing opens, your phone may not have a camera app associated with capturing photos
Additional permissions on Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo and other Android phones¶
Some manufacturers restrict background apps and pop-up windows beyond stock Android, which can stop the AOD from appearing even with every permission above granted.

The in-app Additional Permission Required card in Settings opens this screen directly on Xiaomi, OPPO and vivo phones.
