General¶

What is AOD Flow?¶

An always-on display app. It shows a customisable clock, your notifications and media controls on your lock screen while your phone is otherwise idle or charging, and keeps a matching clock ticking on your home screen through its own widgets.

Which Android versions are supported?¶

Android 7.0 and later.

Does my phone need an AMOLED or OLED screen?¶

No, AOD Flow will run on any supported Android phone. OLED and AMOLED screens only light the pixels that are actually on, so an always-on clock typically costs less battery on them than on an LCD screen.

Does AOD Flow replace my phone's built-in always-on display?¶

No. If your phone already has a native always-on display, you can use either one, or turn the native one off in your phone's own display settings and use AOD Flow instead.

Is there an iOS version?¶

No. AOD Flow is Android only.

Do I need an account?¶

No. There is no sign-in.

Getting it working¶

Why won't the AOD turn on?¶

Almost always a missing Display over other apps permission. Tap Start on the Home tab; if the permission isn't granted, AOD Flow shows a dialog that takes you straight to the right settings screen.

The AOD worked, then stopped after a while. Why?¶

This is usually Android's battery optimisation stopping the background service. Open Settings → Disable Battery Optimization in the app, and set AOD Flow to unrestricted. See Troubleshooting for manufacturer-specific steps.

What's the "Additional Permission Required" card in Settings?¶

It appears on Xiaomi, OPPO and vivo phones, which restrict background apps and pop-up windows more aggressively than stock Android. Tap it for steps to allow AOD Flow to keep running and to appear on your lock screen.

If I deny a permission, what breaks?¶

Only the feature that needed it. Denying notification access, for example, only disables notification icons and media controls; the rest of the AOD keeps working.

The AOD screen¶

How do I change the clock style?¶

Open Look & Feel → Clock Style for the full gallery, or the Templates tab for ready-made combinations of clock, font, colour and spacing.

What do the torch and camera icons do?¶

Tap and hold either one on the AOD screen. Torch turns your flashlight on or off; camera opens your phone's own camera app. Hide either one in Look & Feel.

Can I swipe to change the clock from the AOD screen?¶

Yes, with Pro. Turn on Swipe to change clock in Settings, then swipe the clock on the AOD screen to cycle through your styles.

How do I get out of the AOD screen?¶

Double tap it, if Double Tap to Exit is turned on in Settings, or press your phone's power button as usual.

Why aren't notifications showing on the AOD?¶

Turn on Show Notifications on AOD in Look & Feel and grant notification access when asked. See Troubleshooting if it's already on.

Why aren't my media controls showing?¶

Turn on Show Media Player Controls in Look & Feel and grant notification access. Controls only appear while something is actively playing through Android's media session, so start playback in your player first.

Widgets¶

Look for Clock AOD rather than AOD Flow — the individual home screen widgets still carry the app's previous name. Long press your home screen, tap Widgets, and scroll to find it.

Yes. Long press the widget and use your launcher's own widget settings shortcut, or remove it and add it again to go through the customisation screen once more.

Battery and burn-in¶

Does AOD Flow affect my charging speed?¶

No. It can show your charging status and battery percentage on the lock screen, but it doesn't control or change how fast your phone actually charges.

Does keeping the AOD on use extra battery?¶

Any always-on display, built in or added by an app, uses some extra battery compared with a screen that's fully off. Dim Full Screen, AOD Timeout, Power Saving Mode and Hide On A Schedule in Settings all help reduce it.

Can AOD Flow cause screen burn-in?¶

It's a general risk with any static content shown on an OLED or AMOLED screen for long periods, not something specific to AOD Flow. Turning on Enable OLED Burn-In Protection periodically shifts the on-screen content to reduce the risk, though no app can fully guarantee against it.

Privacy¶

Does AOD Flow read my notification text?¶

No. It reads which app posted a notification and that app's icon, not the notification's title or text. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.

Does AOD Flow use my camera or microphone?¶

No. Both permissions are declared in the app but not used by any current feature; the torch and camera shortcuts work without them, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Does AOD Flow show ads?¶

Yes, from Google AdMob, on the Home tab, the exit dialog, an occasional app-open ad, and an interstitial after closing the AOD preview. Ads never appear on the AOD screen itself or in home screen widgets, and Pro removes them entirely.

Pro¶

What does Pro unlock?¶

All Premium clock, font, colour, template and widget designs, the swipe-to-change-clock gesture, and it removes ads. See Free and Pro for the full comparison.

How do I restore a purchase?¶

Purchases are tied to your Google account. Open the upgrade screen and tap Restore Purchases, or sign in to Google Play with the same account on a new device and AOD Flow will recognise it.
