Troubleshooting¶
The touch area doesn't appear on the notch¶
- Open Action Notch and confirm Accessibility Service is turned on — the app cannot place the touch area without it
- Confirm at least one gesture has an action assigned; with nothing assigned, Action Notch shows no touch area at all
- Check Disable in Landscape Mode, Disable When No Notch Detected and Disable on Lock Screen haven't switched it off for your current situation
- If your phone has no true cutout, turn on Custom Notch Position to place the touch area yourself
The accessibility service keeps turning itself off¶
Aggressive battery management is the usual cause, and it's common on Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Realme, OnePlus, Huawei and Samsung devices.
- Android Settings → Apps → Action Notch → Battery
- Set battery usage to Unrestricted
- On Xiaomi, also enable Autostart for Action Notch
- Lock the app in your recents list if your launcher supports it
A gesture does nothing when touched¶
Almost always a missing permission for the action assigned to it.

Re-open the action's setup and it will prompt again for whatever is missing. If you denied a permission and chose "don't ask again," grant it from Android Settings → Apps → Action Notch → Permissions instead.
The custom notch position is wrong after rotating or folding¶
Each screen orientation is computed from your saved position, and a foldable's Main screen and Cover screen are saved separately. If a position looks off after folding or unfolding:
- Open Custom Notch Position and check you're editing the screen you think you are — the setup screen names it
- Use Copy from to bring the other screen's layout across, or Reset this screen to start clean
Dynamic Widgets won't open¶
- Confirm Dynamic Widgets is assigned to a gesture, and that gesture is a Pro one you've unlocked, or a free gesture with Dynamic Widgets assigned to it
- Confirm Accessibility Service is on — the deck is drawn through it
- If it opened before and stopped, try removing and reassigning the action
The Media card in Dynamic Widgets shows nothing¶
- Grant notification access for Action Notch when the card asks for it
- Start playback in your music or video app first — the card reads the currently active media session, so there has to be one
- Some apps don't publish a media session; try another player to confirm
Recordings are missing or won't save¶
- Check the Storage tab first; recordings are saved there, not to a separate gallery app
- Make sure there's enough free storage on your device
- For silent video or audio, confirm both Camera/Microphone and the notification permission are granted — recording won't start without them
A rule in Rule-Based Actions never runs¶
- Rules are checked top to bottom and only the first match runs — a rule above it with the same gesture and condition may be catching it first. Action Notch will warn you about this when you save
- Confirm the rule is switched on and the app or condition it checks for is still valid — an uninstalled app or an expired Pro unlock disables the rule automatically
- Rules never override Blacklisted Apps, Disable on Call or Disable on Lock Screen — those are checked first
Tasker, MacroDroid or Automate isn't receiving anything¶
- Confirm the automation app is installed and you've set up a matching profile or macro in it, listening for the
action.notchbroadcast - Confirm the Run Automation action, with the correct target app selected, is assigned to the gesture you're testing
- For "Other" automation apps such as Samsung Routines, Action Notch posts a short notification instead of a broadcast — make sure Notifications are allowed for Action Notch
