Privacy Policy¶

Thank you for using Action Notch (the "App"), provided by Androxus ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what the App collects, what it does not, and what you can switch off.

Overview¶

Action Notch turns your phone's notch or camera cutout into a touch shortcut, using an Accessibility Service to detect the touch and trigger the action you've assigned to it.

The short version:

Your recordings, notes and settings stay on your device. Action Notch runs no server of its own for them, and there's no account or sign-in
The Accessibility Service does not read your screen. It detects touches on the notch, which app is in front, and triggers the system action you've chosen — nothing more
The App shows ads from Google AdMob, sometimes filled through Meta Audience Network, in the App's own screens; buying Pro removes them
Analytics is on by default, and almost every event uses a fixed category name only. Two exceptions send an identifier: choosing or launching an AI Assistant app sends that app's package name, and playing a permission tutorial video sends its URL
Location permission only checks whether GPS is switched on. Your actual location is never read

Opening a tutorial later plays the saved clip, fetching any part that hadn't finished downloading from the same address; if nothing was saved, it plays a generic video that doesn't name your manufacturer.

Nothing else leaves your device through the App. Your gesture settings, notch position, recordings, notes and Notch Bounce score are not on this list because they are never sent anywhere.

Advertising¶

The App shows ads from Google AdMob, sometimes filled through Meta Audience Network as a mediation partner, in the App's own screens and at transitions: a banner on the Home screen, a banner when you leave the App, an occasional full-screen ad at launch or after you choose an action, and an app-open ad when you return to the App from elsewhere on your phone.

Ads never appear over the notch touch area, inside the Dynamic Widgets deck, in Notch Mirror or in Notch Bounce — only in the screens described above. Buying Action Notch Pro removes all of them.

Consent. Where required by law (for example in the EEA and UK), the App shows Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form before ads are personalised. The advertising SDK initialises when the App starts, and can begin loading ads before you have responded to that form.

When an ad is shown, AdMob — and Meta, on the occasions it fills the ad — may receive your advertising ID, device and app information, IP address, and your interactions with the ad, and may use them to personalise advertising. Installing the App also adds the Android advertising ID permission to what the App can request. See the Google Privacy Policy, how Google uses data from partner apps, and the Meta Privacy Policy.

Analytics¶

The App uses Firebase Analytics, and it is active in the version of the App published on Google Play — Action Notch does not currently offer an in-app switch to turn it off.

Most events the App logs use a fixed, predefined name and parameter values — for example, which general type of gesture fired, which action category was assigned, or which Dynamic Widgets card was shown. None of that is content you typed, said, searched for, recorded or chose: search text, song or track titles, contact names, timer lengths, and the apps you open through Open An App, Choose Apps or similar actions are never sent as an event or a parameter. There are two exceptions: setting or launching the AI Assistant action sends the package name of the assistant app you chose (any installed app, not only the four suggested ones), and playing a permission tutorial video sends that video's URL. Firebase also derives standard information such as an app instance identifier, device model, operating system version and approximate country from your IP address.

Crash reporting¶

The App uses Firebase Crashlytics in the version published on Google Play, to record crashes and handled errors. A report contains the stack trace, device model, operating system version and app state at the time — not the content of your recordings, notes or searches.

Remote configuration¶

The App uses Firebase Remote Config to fetch a small number of feature flags — for example, whether to show a reminder notification, and whether to use Google Play's built-in rating prompt. It sends no personal information.

Purchases¶

If you buy Action Notch Pro — whether a subscription or a one-time purchase — the transaction is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see or receive your payment details. The App checks your entitlement with Play. See the Google Play Privacy Policy.

Permissions and special access¶

Action Notch asks for most of these only when you assign the specific action that needs them, not up front.

Accessibility Service¶

Action Notch is built around the notch touch area, and there is no other way for an app to detect a touch there, or to trigger system actions like a screenshot or opening Recents, without an accessibility service. We want to be precise here, because accessibility access is powerful and you deserve the exact picture rather than a reassuring summary.

What it does:

Draws the invisible touch area around your notch or camera cutout, and detects taps, double taps, long presses and swipes on it
Calls Android's global-action API to trigger the system action you've assigned — Home, Back, Recents, opening the notification shade or Quick Settings, the Power menu, or a screenshot
Reads which app is currently in the foreground, so Blacklisted Apps can turn the App off in specific apps, and so Rule-Based Actions can check "an app is open" as a condition
Synthesises an on-screen scroll gesture for the Scroll to Top and Scroll to Bottom actions
Hosts the Dynamic Widgets deck and the Notch Mirror preview as accessibility overlay windows

What the service configuration declares:

canRetrieveWindowContent and canTakeScreenshot are both declared true, because Android requires them for the foreground-app detection above and for the Take Screenshot action
canPerformGestures is declared for the Scroll to Top and Scroll to Bottom actions
canRequestTouchExplorationMode and the flagReportViewIds accessibility flag are declared as part of the same service configuration. In practice, the App's own code only ever reads the foreground app's package name, as described above

What it does not do:

It does not read, log, store or transmit the text or content of your screen. The service only records which app's window is in front, never what's inside it
No screen content is sent anywhere

One more thing worth knowing: Action Notch does not use Android's separate "display over other apps" permission. Every overlay it draws — the notch touch area, Dynamic Widgets and Notch Mirror included — is hosted through the Accessibility Service instead.

You can turn off Accessibility Service at any time in Android Settings. The App stops detecting touches on the notch until you turn it back on.

Notification listener access¶

The Dynamic Widgets Media card needs to know what's playing so it can show the track and send play, pause, previous and next commands.

The App reads the active media session for this — track title, artist and playback state — and holds it in memory only for as long as the card is on screen; it is never saved or sent to analytics. It does not read the text or content of your notifications. The notification-listener service itself overrides no notification callback and inspects nothing; it exists only because Android requires an enabled listener before it will hand over the active media session. If you never use the Media card, you don't need to grant this.

Opening other apps, websites and automations¶

Actions like Open An App, In-App Shortcuts, Open App Activity, Call a Contact and Open Favorite Website all work the same way: the App asks Android to open the app, shortcut, phone number or website you picked. From that point you're using that app or site, and its own privacy policy applies — the App does not proxy, log or see what happens next.

The AI Assistant action works the same way when it opens the assistant app, with one difference: choosing or launching it also sends that app's package name to Firebase Analytics, as described in Analytics.

Run Automation works the other way round: it sends a short, on-device broadcast — the type of gesture, nothing else — to Tasker, Automate or MacroDroid if you've set up one of them, or posts a brief notification for other automation apps, such as Samsung Routines, to react to. Nothing is sent off your device.

What's stored on your device¶

The App's Android backup setting is switched off, so none of this is included in Android's own device backup either — it stays on this device until you delete it or uninstall the App.

Data we don't collect¶

To be explicit, Action Notch does not collect, store off your device, or transmit to us:

The content of your screen, or text from other apps
Your notes, checklists or recordings
The photos, videos or audio you capture with it
Your contacts, beyond the one number you pick for Call a Contact, which is never transmitted
Your precise location — only whether GPS is switched on is checked
The content of your notifications
Your name, email address or any account identity — there is no sign-in

Apps, shortcuts, contacts and websites you reach through the App's actions are opened directly on your device and are governed by their own policies.

Because we hold no account and run no server for your content, there is no profile of you for us to export or erase. Data held by Google or Meta as a result of ads, analytics or crash reporting is subject to their own controls.

Children's Privacy¶

Action Notch is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

Changes to this Privacy Policy¶

We may update this Privacy Policy. Significant changes will be reflected here and in the release notes on Google Play. The effective date at the top shows when it was last revised.
