Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the SafeCam mobile application ("App") operated by Androxus ("we," "us," or "our").

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you may not use the App.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using SafeCam, you agree to:

  • These Terms of Service
  • Our Privacy Policy
  • All applicable laws and regulations

2. Description of Service

SafeCam is an Android application that:

  • Records video, photos, audio or your screen when you trigger an action you've configured
  • Lets you start and stop those actions from a floating icon, a gesture on your notch or status bar, a shake of the phone, a long press of a volume key, a home screen shortcut, or a Quick Settings tile
  • Keeps a recording running in the background, including with the screen off. Camera and audio recordings run inside its Accessibility Service; Screen Recording uses Android's foreground service and screen-capture APIs
  • Stores recordings on your device and lets you view, rename, delete, share or export them from within the App

The App is a recording tool. It does not monitor, transmit or review anything you record, and it does not operate independently of the actions you set up and trigger yourself.

3. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your own use, subject to these Terms.

You may not:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the App, except where that restriction is prohibited by law
  • Redistribute, sell, lease or sublicense the App
  • Remove or alter any proprietary notices
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose

4. Permissions and device access

Recording actions need Android permissions, including camera, microphone, notifications and Accessibility Service, and Screen Recording needs Android's own screen-capture confirmation each time it starts. You choose whether to grant each one, and you may revoke any of them at any time in Android Settings; the actions that depend on a revoked permission simply stop working until you grant it again.

The App does not, and cannot, hide Android's own recording indicators: on Android 12 and later, the status bar indicator shown while the camera or microphone is in use, and the notification shown while a screen recording runs. Android 11 and earlier show no camera or microphone indicator. SafeCam's own notification for camera, photo and audio actions can be turned off in each action's settings.

5. Your Responsibility When Recording

SafeCam is a tool for recording your own situation for personal safety, evidence and emergencies. It records whatever the camera, microphone or screen picks up, and it does not check whether a recording is lawful. What you record, and whether you're allowed to, is your responsibility, not ours.

  • Know the law before you record someone else. Recording laws vary by country and, within the United States, by state. Some places only require your own consent to record a conversation you're part of; others require everyone taking part to agree first. SafeCam's camera recordings always include sound, so these rules apply to its videos as well as its audio recordings. Check the rules that apply where you and the other people are before you record another person.
  • Respect reasonable expectations of privacy. Never record in places such as bathrooms or changing rooms; voyeurism and privacy laws in many places, including every US state, prohibit it whatever the consent rules for conversations. In other places where people reasonably expect privacy, such as someone else's home, get the consent the law requires before you record them.
  • Do not use the App to harass, stalk or covertly surveil anyone. SafeCam is built as a personal-safety and self-documentation tool, for recording your own situation, such as a commute, a delivery or an uneasy encounter, not for secretly monitoring other people.
  • SafeCam is not an emergency service. It does not contact emergency services, send alerts or share your location. In an emergency, call your local emergency number. We do not promise that a recording will be accepted as evidence.
  • This is not legal advice. Nothing in these Terms or elsewhere in this documentation is legal advice. When a recording matters, check the current law where you are.
  • You are solely responsible for how, where, and of whom you use the App to record, for obtaining any consent the law requires, and for complying with all applicable recording, surveillance and privacy laws. We are not responsible for how you use any recording you make, or for any consequence of recording without the required consent.

6. Free and Pro

The App is available at no cost with a limited set of recording actions and triggers, and is supported by advertising shown inside the App. SafeCam Pro unlocks the remaining recording actions and trigger options, and removes advertising.

  • Purchases are processed by Google Play, not by us
  • Refunds are governed by the Google Play refund policy
  • We may change the features included in Free or Pro, with notice through app updates
  • Advertising is provided by Google AdMob. See the Privacy Policy

7. Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend or discontinue the App or any feature at any time. Features that depend on Android APIs or third-party services may stop working if those services change. We are not liable for such changes.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error free, or compatible with every device or Android version, or that a recording will be captured or saved successfully in every circumstance.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Androxus is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data or recordings, arising from your use of the App.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months preceding the claim.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Androxus harmless from any claim arising out of your misuse of the App, including any recording made in violation of applicable law or without required consent, or your breach of these Terms.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. The effective date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
