General¶
What is Handwriter?¶
An Android app that turns text you type or paste into a page that looks handwritten, using a font you choose, then exports it as a PDF.
Does Handwriter write my assignment or essay for me?¶
No. Handwriter formats text you already wrote. It does not write, research or generate content, so the words and ideas still have to be your own.
Which Android versions are supported?¶
Android 6.0 and later.
Is there an iOS version?¶
No. Handwriter is Android only.
Fonts¶
How many fonts does Handwriter include?¶
114 built-in handwriting fonts: 53 English, 41 Arabic, 11 Urdu, 7 Hindi, and 2 Russian/Kazakh. Arabic and Urdu fonts render right to left.
Can I use my own handwriting?¶
Yes. Upload a TTF or OTF font file and Handwriter adds it to your font list. If you want the page to look like your own handwriting, you need a font file built from it first; Handwriter applies the font, it doesn't create one from a photo or scan of your writing.
What font file formats are supported, and how large can they be?¶
TTF and OTF, up to 10 MB.
Can I open a font file from my file manager or email straight into Handwriter?¶
Yes. Opening a .ttf or .otf file with Handwriter takes you straight to the font-upload screen.
Formatting and pages¶
What page sizes are available?¶
Postcard, US Letter, US Legal, and A0 through A8.
Can I remove the ruled lines?¶
Yes. Choose No lines as the line colour for a plain sheet, or hide the top or left red line individually.
What do Page Distortion and Page Rotation do?¶
Page Distortion adds a subtle wave effect and Page Rotation adds a subtle random tilt to each page, both for a more natural, less uniform look. Page Distortion only shows up once you export the PDF, not in the live editor.
What is Render Style?¶
A choice of No Effect, Shadow Only, or Scanner Effect, changing how the exported page is rendered.
Can I add a picture to my page?¶
Yes. Insert an image, crop it, recolour it to look ink-drawn, and adjust it with a distortion slider for a hand-drawn look.
Saving and exporting¶
What format does Handwriter export to?¶
PDF.
Where do my documents go?¶
Your drafts and exported PDFs are both listed on the home screen, and stay on your device.
Can I open my exported PDF in another app?¶
Yes. Tapping an exported PDF opens it in the Androxus PDF Reader app if you have it installed, or you can open the saved file with any PDF viewer on your device.
Pro¶
What does Handwriter Pro unlock?¶
According to the app's own description, an ad-free experience, no page limit, every handwriting font, and the ability to upload your own font file.
How do I buy Pro, or restore a purchase?¶
On the home screen, tap Pro to see the monthly, yearly and lifetime options; Google Play handles the purchase. If you reinstall the app or change devices, sign in to Google Play with the same account and open the Pro screen again.
Are there ads?¶
Yes, on the free version: an app open ad, and an interstitial ad while your PDF is being generated. Buying Pro removes them.
Privacy¶
Does Handwriter send my text or documents to a server?¶
No. Handwriter renders your text, images and fonts into a PDF entirely on your device. It does not use OCR or AI to read or process your documents, and nothing you type, paste or insert is uploaded anywhere. See the Privacy Policy.
Do I need an account?¶
No. There is no sign-in.
