Troubleshooting Guide

Having trouble with Auto Clicker? This guide covers common issues and their solutions. Start with the quick checks below, then find your specific issue.

Quick Checks (Do These First)

Before diving into specific issues, try these steps:

  1. Verify Accessibility Service is enabled

    • Go to Settings → Accessibility → Auto Clicker → Ensure it's ON
    • If it was on, toggle it OFF and ON again

  2. Restart Auto Clicker

    • Force stop the app and reopen it
    • Long-press app icon → App info → Force stop → Reopen

  3. Restart your device

    • A simple restart fixes many Android permission issues

Common Issues

1. Taps Not Working / Nothing Happens

Symptoms: You press play but no taps occur on screen.

Solutions:

  1. Check Accessibility Service:

    • The most common cause is the Accessibility Service being disabled
    • Go to Settings → Accessibility → Auto Clicker
    • Toggle it OFF, wait 3 seconds, then toggle ON again
    • Some devices require you to restart after enabling

  2. Grant fresh permissions:

    • Uninstall and reinstall Auto Clicker
    • Carefully grant all permissions when prompted

  3. Check for conflicts:

    • Other accessibility apps may conflict with Auto Clicker
    • Temporarily disable other accessibility services and test

  4. Verify target position:

    • Ensure your tap target isn't positioned over the system navigation bar
    • Move targets away from screen edges

2. Accessibility Service Keeps Turning Off

Symptoms: The Accessibility Service disables itself randomly.

Solutions:

  1. Disable Battery Optimization:

    • Go to Settings → Apps → Auto Clicker → Battery
    • Select "Unrestricted" or "Don't optimize"
    • This is the most common fix

  2. Device-specific battery settings:

    • Samsung: Settings → Battery → Background usage limits → Remove Auto Clicker from sleeping apps
    • Xiaomi/MIUI: Settings → Battery → App battery saver → Auto Clicker → No restrictions
    • Huawei/EMUI: Settings → Battery → App launch → Auto Clicker → Manage manually → Enable all toggles
    • OnePlus/OxygenOS: Settings → Battery → Battery optimization → Auto Clicker → Don't optimize
    • Oppo/ColorOS: Settings → Battery → High power consumption → Enable Auto Clicker

  3. Lock the app in recent apps:

    • Open recent apps view
    • Find Auto Clicker
    • Tap the lock icon (or long-press and select "Lock")

  4. Visit dontkillmyapp.com:

    • Find your device manufacturer
    • Follow the specific instructions for your device

3. Overlay/Floating Controls Not Showing

Symptoms: You start a mode but no floating controls appear.

Solutions:

  1. Re-enable Accessibility Service:

    • Go to Settings → Accessibility → Auto Clicker
    • Toggle it OFF, wait 3 seconds, then toggle ON again

  2. Check if another app is blocking:

    • Screen filter apps, blue light filters, or other overlay apps can interfere
    • Temporarily disable them and test

  3. Restart the service:

    • Open Auto Clicker
    • Go to Settings
    • Toggle "Accessibility Service" off and on

  4. Clear app cache:

    • Settings → Apps → Auto Clicker → Storage → Clear cache

4. Taps Are Inaccurate / Wrong Position

Symptoms: Taps land in different positions than where you placed targets.

Solutions:

  1. Check screen orientation:

    • Targets have separate coordinates for portrait and landscape
    • Make sure you're in the same orientation as when you set up the targets

  2. Recalibrate targets:

    • Delete existing targets
    • Create new targets in your current orientation

  3. Disable display scaling:

    • If you've changed display size/scaling, targets may be offset
    • Try resetting to default display size

  4. Update the app:

    • Ensure you have the latest version from Google Play

5. App Crashes or Freezes

Symptoms: Auto Clicker crashes when starting or during use.

Solutions:

  1. Clear app data:

    • Settings → Apps → Auto Clicker → Storage → Clear data
    • Note: This removes saved scripts

  2. Check available memory:

    • Close other apps to free up RAM
    • Restart your device

  3. Reinstall the app:

    • Uninstall Auto Clicker
    • Restart your device
    • Reinstall from Google Play

  4. Check Android version:

    • Auto Clicker requires Android 7.0 or higher
    • Some features may not work on very old Android versions

6. Scripts Not Saving

Symptoms: Saved scripts disappear or won't save.

Solutions:

  1. Check storage permission:

    • Ensure Auto Clicker has storage access if required

  2. Check available storage:

    • Ensure you have free space on your device

  3. Try a different script name:

    • Avoid special characters in script names
    • Keep names simple (letters, numbers, spaces only)

  4. Clear app cache (not data):

    • Settings → Apps → Auto Clicker → Storage → Clear cache

7. Swipes Not Working Properly

Symptoms: Swipe gestures don't execute or are incomplete.

Solutions:

  1. Adjust swipe duration:

    • Very fast swipes (< 200ms) may not register
    • Try increasing swipe duration to 500ms or more

  2. Check swipe distance:

    • Very short swipes may not register
    • Ensure start and end points are sufficiently apart

  3. Reduce swipe speed:

    • Some apps don't register very fast swipes
    • Increase duration for slower, more reliable swipes

  4. Check for app-specific limitations:

    • Some apps block automated swipes
    • Try the same swipe in a different app to verify

8. High Battery Drain

Symptoms: Auto Clicker uses excessive battery.

Solutions:

  1. Increase tap intervals:

    • Very fast tapping (< 100ms) uses more CPU and battery
    • Use longer intervals when possible

  2. Stop automation when not needed:

    • Don't leave automation running unnecessarily
    • Use repetition limits instead of infinite loops

  3. Close the overlay when done:

    • Tap the stop button to fully close the service

9. Automation Stops When Screen Turns Off

Symptoms: Automation pauses or stops when the screen locks.

Solutions:

  1. Keep screen on:

    • Use Android's "Stay awake while charging" developer option
    • Or use a screen-keeping app

  2. Disable screen timeout:

    • Settings → Display → Screen timeout → Maximum or Never
    • Remember to re-enable after automation

  3. Use a screen dimmer instead:

    • Some screen dimmer apps keep the screen technically "on"
    • This allows automation to continue

Android Limitation

Android restricts accessibility services when the screen is off for security reasons. This is a system limitation, not an app bug.

10. Conflicts with Other Apps

Symptoms: Auto Clicker doesn't work with specific apps.

Solutions:

  1. Check app permissions:

    • Some apps (especially banking apps) block accessibility services
    • This is intentional security behavior

  2. Disable game/app boosters:

    • Game booster apps may interfere with overlays
    • Disable them temporarily

  3. Check for accessibility conflicts:

    • Only one accessibility service should control gestures
    • Disable other auto-clicker or gesture apps

11. In-App Purchase Not Restoring

Symptoms: Purchased premium but ads still show.

Solutions:

  1. Check Google account:

    • Ensure you're signed into the same Google account used for purchase

  2. Clear Play Store cache:

    • Settings → Apps → Google Play Store → Storage → Clear cache
    • Restart your device

  3. Wait and retry:

    • Sometimes Google takes a few minutes to sync purchases
    • Close Auto Clicker completely and reopen

  4. Check purchase history:

    • Open Google Play → Menu → Account → Purchase history
    • Verify the purchase is there

Device-Specific Issues

Samsung Devices

  • Issue: Accessibility service disabled after restart
  • Fix: Settings → Battery → Background usage limits → Never sleeping apps → Add Auto Clicker

Xiaomi/MIUI Devices

  • Issue: App killed in background
  • Fix: Settings → Apps → Auto Clicker → Enable "Autostart" and disable "Battery saver"

Huawei/EMUI Devices

  • Issue: App restricted by power management
  • Fix: Settings → Battery → App launch → Auto Clicker → Manage manually → Enable all three toggles

OnePlus Devices

  • Issue: Aggressive battery optimization
  • Fix: Settings → Battery → Battery optimization → All apps → Auto Clicker → Don't optimize

Oppo/Realme Devices

  • Issue: Background process killed
  • Fix: Settings → Battery → Power saving mode → Disable for Auto Clicker + enable "Allow background activity"
